Commodore's Message

Lakewood Yacht Club (LYC) is celebrating its 68th year as a private, member-owned yacht club. LYC is located in Seabrook, Texas, on the north shore of Clear Lake, adjacent to Galveston Bay. Our unique location allows unfettered access to Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. LYC is an exceptional place, one of the few yacht clubs in the United States sitting on 38-acres. Our marina has more than 300 slips that can accommodate all types of vessels, both large and small. Our Clubhouse offers fine and casual dining and a relaxing atmosphere in the Bar and Lounge.

Our Club provides a family-friendly atmosphere, and our members consider Lakewood their home away from home. One of the things that make this Club and boating on the Gulf Coast so special is that it is a year-round operation. You will not want to miss any of our major events such as the Commodore's Ball, Blessing of the Fleet, Harvest Moon Regatta, the annual Commodore's Cruise, and our New Year's Eve party. Throughout the year, our members are enjoying signature events, racing in one of our competitive regattas, or simply enjoying a relaxing day on their boat.

There is always something going on at Lakewood. This year will be no exception as our Entertainment, Cruise, Captain's Roundtable, Race, Youth, and Book Review Committees each have special activities planned throughout the year. The Ladies Association and Mosquitos also have an active calendar of events. Our junior sailing program, the Seahorses, stays busy year-round, competing in youth regattas worldwide and bringing home the "hardware" from the four corners of the globe. Other committees include Membership, Sheds, Piers & Harbor, House, Planning, Race Sponsorship, Finance, and Growth & Retention. Finally, we have several non-committee "clubs" such as the bridge, poker, fishing, and SCUBA Club to keep you busy. Also, around the first weekend of May, LYC will host the annual Concours de 'Elegance Classic Car and Boat Show, commonly known locally as "Keels & Wheels."

We strive to exceed our members' expectations at every visit with excellent service, a caring and friendly staff, outstanding amenities, boating, and social activities that foster relationships that last a lifetime.
